Oceania Marine Australia is proud to officially launch its renewed brokerage and yacht services offering from the Gold Coast, bringing together decades of hands-on marine experience, yacht sales knowledge, engineering expertise and real-world time on the water.
Led by Helen James and Mark James, Oceania Marine has been owned and operated by the James family for more than 20 years, with foundations in marine engineering, vessel operations, project management and yacht services. Today, the business has grown into a professional yacht brokerage and marine services company focused on quality vessels, trusted advice and personalised service.
Yacht Brokerage
Many people in the local boating community know Helen as “Helen at the Helm” — through her lifelong involvement in sailing, her years in the marine industry, her time as Sailing Manager at Southport Yacht Club, and more recently through yacht brokerage. With more than 30 years immersed in boating and offshore sailing, Helen brings a practical, relationship-focused approach to selling vessels.
Her brokerage philosophy is simple: honest advice, quality presentation, professional marketing and a genuine commitment to matching the right buyers with the right boats. Oceania Marine is particularly focused on representing quality sailing yachts, catamarans, powerboats and commercial vessels throughout South East Queensland and beyond.
Yacht Services
Mark James brings more than 30 years of international experience as a superyacht captain, marine engineer and project manager. His career has spanned private yachts, commercial vessels, sportfishers and superyachts around the world. Most recently, Mark completed an extraordinary chapter as Build Captain for a new 58-metre Sanlorenzo superyacht project in La Spezia, Italy, overseeing commissioning, systems integration, sea trials and final delivery.
Mark has also managed major refit, rebuild and delivery projects, including extensive works on an 82-foot Viking Sport Fisher and international passages throughout Australia, New Zealand, the Pacific, Asia, the Mediterranean and beyond. His experience brings a rare level of practical insight to Oceania Marine’s vessel services, from project management and refit support through to engineering advice, deliveries, operational consulting and owner representation.
Together, Helen and Mark offer more than simply placing a boat online. Oceania Marine provides a comprehensive, experienced approach to boat ownership, buying and selling — from listing preparation, presentation and professional photography through to inspections, sea trials, settlement support, refits, engineering advice and after-sale assistance.
Oceania Marine Australia is also proud to be a licensed Second-Hand Dealer, a member of the Boating Industry Association, and operates with a dedicated holding account for deposits and settlement funds. The business is also working towards becoming an Accredited BIA Brokerage.
For Helen and Mark, building Oceania Marine properly has meant investing in the right systems, professional standards and industry processes to give buyers and sellers confidence at every stage.
