About Helen James | Yacht Brokerage
Helen James is a marine industry professional with over 30 years’ experience across sailing, yacht brokerage, technical sales, and marine business development in Australia and international markets.
She has held senior roles with leading global marine brands including Ronstan International, Harken, Multihull Solutions, Southport Yacht Club, and Evolution Sailmakers, developing deep technical expertise in deck hardware, sail systems, refit coordination, warranty management, and after-sales support across both sailing yachts and power vessels.
A lifelong sailor, Helen brings an intuitive understanding of yachts—from dinghies through offshore racing, cruising yachts, and superyachts—combining practical on-water experience with strong technical and commercial knowledge.
Together with her husband Mark James, Helen operates Oceania Marine Brokerage & Yacht Services, a boutique yacht brokerage and marine services business working across sailing yachts, motor yachts, and superyachts. The business delivers a highly informed, relationship-driven approach to vessel sales and acquisition, alongside ongoing yacht support services including marine engineering coordination, captaincy support, sourcing, logistics, and project assistance.
Helen’s experience spans direct work with chandleries, boat builders, OEMs, and international yacht brands, as well as private owners and captains requiring discreet, responsive, and technically informed support and strategy.
She has built her career around clear, commercially effective communication in the marine sector—across technical product environments, marketing and brand development, and client-facing brokerage roles—helping simplify complexity and support confident decision-making.
